– One of the easiest Organic SEO Tips is to be sure you have strong URLs. You can do this by making sure that your page URL is one of your keyterms mentioned on that page. In WordPress we call these Permalinks.

Organic SEO Tips #2

– Good Keyword Density. Be sure to have a healthy balance of keywords sprinkled in throughout your content but NOT TOO MANY or you’ll get in trouble for keyword stuffing. That can get you blacklisted on google. Read more in our No No’s on SEO for this topic.

Organic SEO Tips #3

– This one is HUGE and is missed by MANY companies! Call to Action (CTA). This seems silly to mention in an SEO article, but truth is your website needs to ASK your visitor to do something – either Call Now, or Buy Now, or Get a Free Quote Today! Making your CTA a click takes your customer one click deeper into your website. The further into your site a visitor goes, the better it looks from Google’s perspective. So make your CTA a clickable link that takes your visitor to a form to fill out or a shopping cart page.

Organic SEO Tips #4

– Social Media Interaction. Google LOVES socialization! They want to see those social media icons linked out to social sites. They want to see your Facebook feed on your website, or your instagram photos on your website, or your Google+ Reviews link. When they find this type of interaction, they know that you care about networking, that you care about your customers, and that you are actively reaching out. Every company can use this FREE resource for SEO and it works!

Organic SEO Tips #5

– Videos! Google LOVES YouTube cause they own it! So if you have a Youtube channel, you can have that dynamically filter into your WordPress website. Videos cause visitors to stay on your site for an additional 30 seconds to 2 minutes! Can you imagine your analytics as people spend time watching your videos?

There are several ways you can create videos – we can do it for you, you can also create a YouTube channel and go out to “Like” other people videos adding them to your playlists. This is a fast way to create a channel. However, be aware that when you add your own videos you can create backlinks for YOUR OWN BUSINESS. When all you do is “Like” other companies’ videos you’re promoting them.

Organic SEO Tips #6

– Alt Tags & Image Names. You probably know that Google cannot read images, but they can read the alt tag text you place behind them as well as the image name itself (imagename.jpg). These should be your keywords. Every image should be named correctly, and given the proper alt tag text – including your LOGO. It should not be named LOGO.jpg

Organic SEO Tips #7

- Lastly be sure to include a robots.txt file on your root directory. This is important to give direction to the search engines. The robots.txt file tells search engine crawlers which directories can or cannot be crawled. You need to be sure this file is current so that you don’t accidentally block the Googlebot crawler. Organic SEO is the buzz word that business owners and marketing directors are really learning about and they are finding that it actually takes A LOT to make your website function organically well in the search engine results. If you pay for placement, that can drain your budget very quickly. So what are some great Organic SEO Tips and what are the Organic SEO No No’s?

We’re going to start with what NOT to do.  You don’t want to get blacklisted by Google. See Google’s Webmaster Guidelines to learn more.

Organic SEO No No #1

– There are no TRICKS in SEO. While some will claim instant #1 placement results or first page listings overnight, that’s an instant flag to any search engine that something is fishy. You can get blacklisted very quickly. Sometimes great results require great efforts.

Don’t spend your money on Instant Results Offers, or on the monthly packages that will create fake accounts all over the web for you. Think about it. If one day you have a few dozen natural backlinks, then overnight you have hundreds or thousands, you’re going to be flagged by Google.

Organic SEO No No #2

– We’ve all heard about needing “Jaw-Dropping Content” on our site that will cause our site to be shared and hopefully go viral. But it’s time consuming to write constantly, not to mention needing inspiration for subject matter. Enter the concept of Content Spinning. This is a major NO NO.

Just because a program claims it can completely rewrite your content with one click, you will still generate lousy content – weak for an average reader. Google has come up with algorithms to detect this type of content manipulation. It’s not worth the gamble.

Organic SEO No No #3

– Along the same lines as #2 there’s the ol’ KeyWord Stuffing issue. We all know that adding rich content with the right Keywords is what gets good results. But what’s the balance on adding enough key terms, but not too much? Is there a formula for this method?

There’s not been anything definitively issued from one of the major search engines on this exact formula, but there have been HUGE consequences for keyword stuffing… adding WAY too many keywords where the text becomes muddy and cumbersome for an average reader. Google knows that you’re writing for search engines and not humans. That will get you into serious trouble!

A good keyword density that we at Webtegrity go by is – For every 100 words place your keyword (keyterm) into your content – but again only if it produces a great read for your visitors. Your goal in adding content should be to give great news, updates, or tips on your services or products so much that the visitor finds the content valuable enough to SHARE!

Organic SEO No No #4

– Broken Links can be daunting to monitor, but if you have them, they can seriously damage your ranking. The broken link issues isn’t something just occurring with larger websites where you lose track of content, but it can happen in smaller websites too where careful scripting is hurried and flippantly written. You need to check and double check your links to be sure they open correctly to the right content.

Google monitors pages with broken links and views them as “out of date” and if they find enough they see you as “out of business.” OUCH!

Organic SEO No No #5

– Buying social media likes and followers is trendy right now as well. Simple said – Don’t Buy In! All this does is find fake customers for you. They are not your target market, they probably aren’t even real people / accounts. If you really need likes, why not run a social marketing campaign, or search for similar fanpages or community pages? You can also post meaningful content on your own website that will help gain natural fans and convert them to buyers!

It’s difficult to keep up with all of the latest SEO trends.  And if you can keep up with the blur of ever-changing SEO methods, then there’s the question of does this new method actually work or is it a waste of my time?  Infographics are one of the latest and greatest trends for SEO purposes, but do Infographics work?

What is an infographic?

Infographics are visual presentations of statistics, how-to’s, processes, and any type of complex idea.  These infographics are created to simplify the concept into easy and quick to read graphic diagrams that convey the idea.  You can design them with charts, images, graphs, lists, and maps. This infographic concept isn’t really a new idea. For as long as we can recall, humans love to learn through visual diagrams. Remember the heiroglyphics you learned about in 3rd grade? Those Egyptians started trends that are still working today!

How do you use an infographic?

The idea is to create an infographic that simplifies your idea / complex process and use it in your advertising to help your customers clearly understand.

You can use them:

• To explain your “How we work” process
• To show your service area
• To show how a product works
• To explain why you’re the best at what you do
• To excite sales of a particular new product
• To compare values
• To contrast package levels / features
• and more

You just have to get creative with the different ways to market an infographic. Sky’s the limit!

So – Do Infographics Work?

Yep!  They do!  They work in online marketing for a few reasons:  First of all, if they are designed well you will cause your website viewer to spend more time on a page and the search engines monitor that time spent. If they are designed well, they should prompt a Call to Action at the end of the presentation – increasing your sales.  If they are designed correctly, you could even cause a viewer to share that image on their facebook wall, retweet it, or pin it on their pintrest wall.  This is ultimately the goal of an infographic – social sharing! You want to design such a cool eye-catching, fun, educational tool that folks immediately want to tell a friend.

Should I use Infographics in my Marketing?

Forward Fridays® is a program in which companies can enroll to allow their employees and team members the opportunity to take at least one Friday a month as day of community service, with full salary compensation for that time volunteered. This allows the individuals to select from a list of local pre-approved charities or organizations where they can volunteer for the day. The amazing part of this is that the companies are paying their employees to do this for just one day, but they’re getting hooked on the projects and tend to volunteer more than just once a month.
