Hi, y’all. Welcome to another WordPress Wednesday. My name is Kori Ashton here at WebTegrity in San Antonio, Texas and you have found a YouTube channel solely dedicated to all things WordPress. Every single Wednesday, I’m hanging out with you here on YouTube to help the diy-er that wants to improve their online marketing specifically in the world of WordPress. So, I am standing inside of a dashboard right now; because I want to show you an option for your “Coming Soon” page in your WordPress website.

Let’s say that you’re in the middle of trying to build out your website. You’re starting out and maybe you want to put out like a maintenance mode because you want to make some changes and you don’t want to have people see you tinkering (or potentially breaking things) while you’re working on your site. How do you do that?

This is actually an updated video to a video that I have had on our YouTube channel for about three years. So, it’s been around for a long time. Unfortunately, this particular video talks about a certain plugin that is deprecated.

So, it is no longer available. This Ultimate Coming Soon plugin is not safe to use anymore. So, please please keep that in mind as you are looking at this video even now. Be sure that the plugin that I’m about to suggest to you is still current, it has great reviews and it has a lot of installs. I’ll show you where to find that information. Check this out. It’s going to be super simple and we’re going to stay in the budget of free because free is always in the budget. Let’s find the plugin that’s going to help us put up a “Coming Soon” option. Of course, we’re in our dashboard area and we’re on a self-hosted version, which means that we can add new plugins. That’s definitely what we want to do. We want to go to plugins and say “Add New”. We want to do a search for our plugins and we’re just going to do a search for “Coming Soon”.

The specific plugin I want to show you is this one right here. As of today, it has 300k active installs. Look at these incredible reviews, right here. It is compatible with my version of WordPress and it has been updated recently. So, these are kind of the things you want to get in a sense. Make sure today, as you’re watching this video, that those things are still relevant and hopefully even better. So you can be confident to use this plugin. We’re going to click “Install Now”. It’s going to install and we want to activate it, so we’re going to click “Activate”. Now it is active and available for us to use on the website.

Then, here’s what it’s going to do. It’s going to give us the ability to set the status to disable it (meaning, to basically take it off). To enable the “Coming Soon” mode or to even enable an option for “Maintenance Mode” it’s very interesting. Typically for a “Coming Soon” page, that’s what we want to do, we want to click “enable coming soon mode”. Of course, we can put in our logo if we wanted to so that they don’t just see a totally blank, white screen when they land on our domain name. You could say “Coming Soon” If you wanted to, down in this message area, you could say “Check us out on our Facebook for now” and you could have the link here by highlighting this whole thing and clicking the link and typing your link for your Facebook page. That would be visible as they land on your page. All you do then is click “Save”. You could get fancy if you wanted to. It’s up to you if you have a budget to upgrade to pro version, you can get even more features. For now, you can go ahead and change the background color.

You could add an image if you wanted to. They give you quite a few options just for the free mode, so it’s pretty cool. They’ve got this nice little video over here to help you understand better how to use this plugin.
Overall it’s extremely straight forward. I highly recommend this plugin to stay in the budget of free and to help you put up some kind of “Coming Soon” option on your WordPress website.

I hope you’re having a great one. If you like this video, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel because every single week I’m doing something just like this to help you improve your online marketing. Have a great one. I’ll see you next WordPress Wednesday. Bye, y’all.
